DSP-One is a highly integrated package; any data pertaining to the rig and the well can be shared by any and all modules, each of which performs a specific set of drilling engineering calculations from industry standard formulae.

DSP-One uses many graphical displays for data input quality control; 3D graphs are available for directional drilling; X-Y plots are used for the representation of other data.

DSP-One Contents

Well Planning
Stipulate platform, rig, slot and target Grid/UTM data for the well.

Directional Drilling
Design simple or complex well trajectories section by section from start point to target, using a selection of directional methods.

Anti-Collision
Compute a well position uncertainty (using either of the two error models: Cone or Ellipsoid of Uncertainty). The result can then be used in conjunction with a selection of collision-risk wells and one of the separation models (Horizontal, Traveling Cylinder or 3D Closest Approach) to conduct Collision Analysis.

Well Outline
Define a basic casing program, enter formation tops (with TVD to measured depth correlation) and drilling performances. The module automatically generates a drawing of the well outline and corresponding time-depth curves. Casing Point: when Pore and Frac are available casing depth selection is computed according to Company Policy.

Mud Window
When Pore and Frac pressures are available, the mud window is displayed according to the selected casing depths.

Drill String Analysis
This module contains a selection of sub-modules covering:

  • drilling hydraulics with mud, MPD, air and foam
  • drag and torque
  • trip drag chart
  • friction factors back calculation
  • casing wear prediction
  • swab and surge

Due to data sharing capabilities of DSP-One, the drag and torque calculations re-use a high proportion of the data supplied to the hydraulics module.

Casing Design
The casing design module uses Tri-axial VME analysis combined with the Service Life Model to generate design load curves. These load curves are based on the load cases defined by the user. At present there are 7 built-in load cases (drilling to next TD, full evacuation, etc) and 3 user defined cases. This module includes a Casing Verification using the data of the well (KOP, Dog Legs, Hole Caliper, Top of cement, etc.).

Casing Operations
Conduct hydraulics, drag and torque and trip drag chart analysis on the next casing string. Generate centralizer programs being drilled. Swab and surge is also available.

Cementing
The cementing program generated indicates the pumping schedule for each of the component fluids, the volumes of additives required and the static pressure inside and outside of the casing at the end of the job. The free fall analysis examines the predicted pumping rates, injection pressures and pressure at any user defined depth.

Well Control
Four sub-modules within Well Control: Kick control, kick margin, well full of gas and gas cut mud. Kick control gathers data from the current BHA set-up, well fluid description and shut in conditions, to determine the characteristics of the influx together with a suggestion of its most probable composition.

Temperature
This module computes temperature effects on the annulus pressure profile taking into consideration the compressibility of mud versus pressure and temperature.

Survey
Survey management is available from all modules of DSP-One that require it. For actual wells, the user can import survey data in a variety of common formats. There are a host of utilities supplied with the Survey module.

Report
A full drilling phase report is available, including rig power needs.
